Potential Nursing Schools and Colleges

If you already are a practicing nurse and want more responsibility and excitement, you may want to attend a flight nurse school to become a flight nurse. There are two types of flight nurses. One is the military flight nurse and the other is, of course, the civilian flight nurse. With either choice, you will need extended training at a flight nurse school. To be able to attend a flight nurse school, you should be an experienced nurse for at least two years. The schools would prefer you to have been a critical care or emergency room nurse. The civilian flight nurse would be the one attending the flight nurse school.

The military flight nurse would get her training in the armed forces. The flight nurse school needs to certify the nurse as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) and a Paramedic (EMT-P). The flight nurse school will conduct training such as Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Air-Medical Crew National Standard Curriculum, any altitude physiology course, Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Pre-hospital Advanced Life Support (PHTLS) Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Course (NRC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). To search for the right flight nurse school, you can begin looking online. By entering your home location and type of degree desired, you can find the best training needed at a proper flight nurse school. An accredited four-year university is also a good choice to check into when looking for flight nurse school training.

It must be realized, however, that there are more nurses out there with flight nurse training, than there are jobs to hire them. The needs to hire a flight nurse are much lower than other nursing positions. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give flight nurse school a try. If you’ve proven yourself to be the best, you will be hired, even if the percentage of jobs in that field are low.
